This is a celebration of the opening and launching of the Philippine FabLab which is supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry, the Philippine Department of Science and Technology, the Bohol Island State University as the host of the FabLab. This is also assisted by the Bohol Provincial Government and the City Government of Tagbilaran.
The FabLab network has such an amazing tradition of supporting, providing, and celebrating newly launched FabLabs.
FabLab Bohol, Philippines, the venue of FAN1, could not actually have been established without the huge support from the HONFablab in Indonesia, the Social fabrication lab in KEIO Univ, and the Fablab Kamakura in Japan. In this opening ceremony, we would like to show our Fablab Bohol and also thank all Fablab staff, and the Government of Philippines. In the near future, if there are newly built FabLabs, and they want to have our support, we can absolutely support them same as our case.
The opening ceremony will be a “Barrio Fiesta” style showcasing Philippine culture with food on buffet tables and with Boholano performers performing traditional dances and music.
To give more meaning to the ceremony, it is required, if possible for guests and participants to wear their traditional or national costume or clothing like barong for the Filipinos, kimono for the Japanese, batik for the Indonesians and the traditional clothing of some other international participants.
